Packing

What will the weather be like?

The average weather in Portland for the month of March is a high of 56° and a low of 41°. We recommend you wear layers.

What should I pack?

Given the weather forecast (see above) and the unpredictable weather of Pacific Northwest winters, we suggest packing:

  • Multiple layers to adjust to outdoor and indoor temperature changes
  • A strong umbrella
  • A good raincoat with a hood
  • Waterproof shoes
  • A warm sweater or fleece
  • Multiple pairs of pants
  • Leggings to go under dresses or skirts

You might also consider bringing:

  • Cash for buying snacks and swag from vendors (many also take cards)
Is there a dress code for the conference?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, but we suggest dressing in layers since the weather can vary hour to hour in the Pacific Northwest and temperatures might vary from room to room in the hotel. Rain in the Pacific Northwest is more like a drizzle than a downpour, so you probably won’t need to pack your rain boots, though if you plan to walk around outside, shoes that are waterproof are a plus.

If you are attending the Saturday banquet dinner, many people like to dress up in semi-formal attire (although it’s not required)!

We have a small request to help those with chemical sensitivities: please avoid wearing any scents, such as perfume, cologne, essential oils, or clothes laundered with scented fabric softener during the conference.

How much empty room should I leave in my suitcase for samples and swag?

The short answer: as much as possible!

The NTA has a record number of exhibitors this year, and most offer great free samples.

Where can I park?

Downtown Portland offers many advantages as a conference location, including access to great food and convenient public transportation. However, parking can be expensive and hard to find. We recommend you coordinate with friends or other conference attendees to carpool in, if possible, or take public transport. If you do need to park, here are some options.

City Center Parking Pacific Center

Paid parking is available at City Center Parking (Pacific Center), located across the street from the Hilton Downtown Portland:

  • Fees: Weekday – $16.00 (max); Weekend – $7.00 (flat rate)

Hilton Portland Downtown & Duniway Portland Guests

Attendees staying at the Hilton Portland Downtown & The Duniway Portland can use valet parking. Rates are as follows:

  • Valet Parking: $47/day

Attendees staying at The Duniway Portland can use self parking or valet parking. Rates are as follows:

  • Self Parking: $33/day
  • Valet Parking: $47/day

Do the hotels have refrigerators?

The Hilton Portland Downtown does not have fridges. The Duniway does have refrigerators in all rooms.

Because the Hilton and the Duniway are both part of the same hotel (just two different towers), if you require a fridge, you will be able to request a room in the Duniway tower when you book your room. 

What's the difference between the Hilton Portland Downtown and The Duniway?

The Hilton Portland Downtown and The Duniway Portland are a pair of Hilton-brand hotels. They are two different towers that are kitty-corner from each other, but they are part of the same hotel (Hilton Portland Hotel) operated by the same Hilton management team.  When you book through the NTA room block, you will be assigned a room in either the Hilton tower or the Duniway tower. The conference itself will be held in the Hilton Portland Downtown tower.

Food

How much time is there for lunch?

The lunch break will vary from 60-90 minutes, depending on the day of the conference. Details as to the specific time is detailed in the schedule. 

What lunch options are available at or near the conference venue?

The HopCity Tavern & Market is located within the Portland Hilton Downtown.

For off-site lunch options:

  • Check out the interactive Google Map we created with real-food-friendly restaurants and grocery stores.
  • Speak with the concierge at the Hilton Portland Downtown about nearby food options.

You can also buy some healthy snacks and try samples from the many food and drink exhibitors.

Can I bring a significant other to the Saturday banquet?

Certainly! You may purchase a Saturdadinner-only ticket. 

If you purchased the 3-Day ticket, the NTA Saturday All Day Access OR the NTA 2 Day Ticket – Saturday & Sunday, your ticket is already inclusive of Saturday dinner―woohoo! 

Where can I get coffee?

There is a cafe located within the Hilton Portland Vancouver, HopCity Market, which offers Stumptown® Coffee. The following coffee shops are located within walking distance:

Technology

Is WiFi available in the hotel?

Yes, free WiFi will be available throughout the Hilton Portland Downtown.

 

Where is the nearest ATM?

Need cash? There is an ATM inside the Hilton Portland Downtown.

Will the conference be recorded?

Due to low demand, we will not be offering conference recordings for Thrive. What this means is, the only way you can hear our speaker is to be with them at Thrive. Purchase your tickets today!

Registration

How long do I have to register for the conference?

Online registration for the conference ends Feb. 24, 2020; however, spots fill up quickly, so we recommend getting your tickets as soon as possible.

How do I add a Thursday workshop to my registration?

Pre-conference workshops are sold separately from conference tickets. These will be made available mid November in the same ticket registration area where you purchase your conference ticket. They are clearly highlighted as pre-conference workshop tickets. For details on the pre-conference tickets please check the detailed section under ‘schedule’ from the main menu bar. 

 

Do I need to register for specific conference tracks or sessions?

No, you can attend any tracks or sessions you like (with the exception of the Thursday workshops that require separate registration). Please note, however, that some of the breakout rooms have limited seating and attendance will be on a first come, first served basis. We recommend you arrive early to grab a seat.

When will the Exhibitor Hall be open?

This is listed on the schedule.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel and require a refund, you may request it by following these steps:

  • Log into your Eventbrite account.
  • Click on your profile name and select Tickets from the dropdown.
  • Find your order and select it.
  • Select Request a Refund.

We will respond within 1 week, or 2 business days if you paid using PayPal. When issued, refunds can take up to 5 business days to show on your account (7 business days for outside of the United States).

No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests submitted after Feb 17, 2020

You will receive CEUs at Thrive and we are working to finalize the amount of CEUs that one can earn at Thrive as it depends on the schedule. We will keep you posted with the final number.
